DRAGUTIN (DRAGO) HEGEL
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dragutin Hegel (Drago) of Winnipeg, Manitoba who passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 16, 2016 in Našice, Croatia at the age of 69.
Drago was born in Osijek, Croatia to Ferdinand and Ana Hegel on November 23, 1946. He lived in Našice most of his life until moving to Germany in 1975 working there for a couple of years. While in Germany, he married his wife Nedjeljka. Together, they moved to Winnipeg in 1977. Drago was an electrician and spent most of his years in Canada working for Winnipeg and Manitoba Hydro. He loved fiddling around with his electronics, spending time with friends, enjoying the outdoors, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Drago is survived by his wife Nedjeljka and their children, Max (Melissa), Charlotte (Joe) and Katarina (Travis); his grandchildren, Janek, Violeta, Isabella, Ariana and Kruno. He also leaves behind his sister Dubravka (Ivo); nieces, Magdalena and Gordana (Duško); great nephew Gregor; mother-in-law Soka and sister-in-law Snjez̄ana.
Drago was predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand and Ana Hegel; brother Vladimir; and sister Paula (Karlo).
Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. with prayers to follow at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Tavelich Church, 2688 Main Street, with Rev. Fr. Marko Štefanec as celebrant. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dragutin’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
We loved you so much, your place no one can fill and in death we love you still.
