Obituary of STEFAN WERTEPNY
IN MEMORY OF STEFAN WERTEPNY
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and co-worker, Stefan Wertepny. After a sudden stroke on September 20, 2011 and short stay in Victoria General Hospital; Stefan passed away peacefully on November 1, 2011 at the age of 64.
Stefan leaves to cherish his memory and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Maria, his sons Piotr (Jolanta) and Andrzej (Esther), grandchildren Matthew, Patrick, and Emily. He also leaves behind his older brother Jozek (Maria) and younger sister Irena (Jurek) Morawiec along with his cousin Donna Stanowych and numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and co-workers.
Stefan was born on August 13, 1947 in Muszkowo, Poland. He was the second child born to Ludwik and Anna Wertepny. At the age of 25, he married his wife, Maria, on April 15, 1972. He worked in the town of Lubin as a carpenter and helped raise his two sons, Piotr and Andrzej.
Stefan left Poland with his family for a vacation to Greece in May of 1988 where they stayed until they immigrated to Canada in January of 1989. After settling in Winnipeg, Stefan began working for Motor Coach Industries, where he remained employed until his passing. On his weekends and holidays, Stefan enjoyed spending time camping and fishing in the Whiteshell and most recently at his cottage near Lac Du Bonnet. He also enjoyed working with his sons on various carpentry projects and spending time with friends.
We wish to extend our appreciation to the special nurses and caregivers in the Intensive Care Unit of Victoria General Hospital along with the caring First Responders and Paramedics.
