Obituary of JANE IRENE CADIEUX
JANE IRENE CADIEUX (nee SIDOR)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Jane Cadieux on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Saint Boniface General Hospital at the age of 79 following a brief battle with cancer.
Mom was born in Brooklyn, Manitoba on April 13, 1937. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre High School in 1955. Both of Jane's parents were born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in the early 1900s.
Mom was married to Raymond Cadieux, on June 22, 1957; they were married 59 years. Raymond was young gunner in the Canadian Armed Forces later to achieve the rank of Warrant Officer. Jane and Raymond lived primarily in Winnipeg with brief stays in Ottawa and Montreal early on in their marriage.
Prior to having children Jane worked at several locations in Winnipeg including Great West Life, Birks Jewelry, The Bay, and what is now Josten's Canada. Jane was a loving homemaker and incredibly supportive wife and mother. Jane lived the majority of her years in Winnipeg, was proud to be Canadian, and was always strong in her Roman Catholic faith and trust in God.
She enjoyed floral decorating, various arts and crafts, and she especially enjoyed planning and decorating for special occasions such as holidays and birthdays. She also enjoyed shopping, cross-word puzzles and watching drama series and sold Regal regularly. She also loved to spoil her much loved grandchildren at every opportunity. Mom also very much loved her three American Cocker Spaniels over the years; Brandy, Ginger, and Copper.
Mom cared so much about all of us. She was always giving us advice whether we wanted it or not and that was precisely because she cared so much and wanted only the best for her family. To Mom, family was everything. Supporting each other meant more than anything else.
Jane joins her mother and father Sophia and Joseph Sidor in heaven. Jane is survived by her loving husband Raymond; daughter Adrienne and her husband Paul; son Gérard and his wife Thaungrat; son Maurice and his wife Heather; her grandchildren Xavier, Naomi, Sebastien, Gabriel and numerous other relatives and friends.
Prayers and viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 31, at 8:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 1, at 1:30 p.m., Saint John XXIII Parish, 3390 Portage Ave. officiated by Father Robert Polz. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
The family would like to express our thanks to the staff at Saint Boniface Hospital including Dr. Park and Dr. Wong and nurse Karly for the support and prayers from family and friends during this difficult time. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Saint John XXIII Parish.
Mom's favorite prayer:
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He maketh me lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters;
He restoreth my soul.
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
for thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff
they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
