Obituary of VINKO GUBIC
VINKO GUBIC
Vinko Gubic of Winnipeg, Manitoba, peacefully passed away, Friday, September 2, 2016 at Grace Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Vinko is survived by his loving wife Klara; daughters Mary (Ron) of Edmonton and Rose (Darren) of Edmonton; sons Vlad (Lorraine) of Calgary and Joe (Beth) of San Antonio; grandchildren Lee (Janine), Anastasia, Holly (Justin); Ryan (Vicki), Tyler (Lindsey); Brandi, Lola, Beno, Makenna, Liam; Danica, Grace, Emily, Addison; great grandchildren Ava and Ellie.
He was predeceased by close family in Croatia and Australia.
Vinko was born July 7, 1926 in Croatia and he immigrated to Canada with his wife and son in 1962. He settled in Winnipeg and made a life for himself and his family eventually retiring from CP Rail where he took pride in the railway and marveled at the engineering of machinery. He loved spending time with his family at the cottage in Winnipeg Beach and his favorite exercise was walking in the neighborhood. He was handy and knew his way around structural development having worked on his home and cottage continuously making improvements. His passion and strong work ethic kept him doing chores well into his 80’s and he always stayed fit with a healthy diet and exercise. He would chuckle watching wrestling matches on TV and loved spending time with his grandkids. He adored his wife Klara for 62 years and together they made a life of discoveries and gave all they had for their family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and compassion.
