Obituary of ZDENKO PIHIR
Zdenko Pihir
January 20, 1938 – September 04, 2016
Peacefully at his home with his family and friends by his side Zdenko passed away at the age of 78.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Ana; son Dalibor (Jay); daughter Lidija (Greg), granddaughter Sabrina (Cory), and great grandchildren, Ethan and Brooklyn.
Zdenko was born in Daruvar, Croatia. He moved to Taber, Alberta with his family in 1975, then to Winnipeg in 1976. He took great pride in his work as a City of Winnipeg employee until his retirement in 2001.
Zdenko enjoyed time with friends, maintaining his yard and extensive travel since his retirement, but mostly loved spending time with his family. He also thoroughly enjoyed special times spent in the nature of Cooks Creek surrounded by family and grandchildren.
Prayers and rosary with viewing will be said on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Croatian Catholic Church, St. Nicholas Tavelich, 2688 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Zdenko’s memory to Cancer Care Manitoba.
His strength, love and devotion to his family are still alive even after his passing. Papa, you will always be in our hearts, we will always love you. This is not goodbye, it’s until we meet again. Those we love don’t go away, they walk with us every day. Pokoj vječni daruj mu Gospodine i svjetlost vječna svjetlila njemu. Počivaj u miru Božjem.
