Obituary of WILLIAM KANE
WILLIAM KANE
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Kane at age 83 on July 20, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital.
Bill is survived by his daughter Lisa Ferries (David), grand-daughters Jennifer and Kathryn, sister Nettie Myseniuk, sister-in-law Mary Kochanowski, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mina, mother Mary, father Mike, and brother Nick.
Bill was born in Silver, Manitoba, and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He attended St. John's High School and worked for the Canadian National Railway until his retirement. He also dabbled in real estate. He had a quick wit and a jovial nature. He attended St. Mary's Catherdral and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and spoke highly of the organization. In his later years Bill enjoyed travelling until failing health intervened.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to his caregiver, Conchita Hermano, for all that she did for him, and to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Thursday July 26th, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Cropo, on Friday July 27th, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. Very Rev. Monsignor D. Ward Jamieson, V.G. of St. Mary's Cathedral will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lung Association Manitoba, or to a charity of your choice.
