Obituary of QUOC ANH TRAN
QUOC ANH TRAN
With his family by his side early on Thursday, October 13, 2016, Quoc Anh Tran of Winnipeg, MB, passed away at the age of 65.
Remaining to forever cherish his memory is his wife of 42 years, Man; their four children My Phuong, Mylien (Thanh L.), Kaylie Nguyet (Kevin), Tuan; nephew Thanh N. (Linh); along with grandchildren Emily, Erin, Andrew, Lily, and Liam as well as his great-nephews and niece Ryan, Daniel, and Katie.
Quoc was born in Quy Nhon, Vietnam on October 15, 1950. He migrated to Canada in 1977 as a Vietnam War refugee and brought along his young nephew Thanh N., where he settled in Winnipeg for the remainder of his life. Once arrived to Canada, Quoc strived hard to put down roots in Winnipeg in order to immigrate his wife and two daughters (at the time) to safety in Canada as well. Reunited in 1983, together Quoc and Man had two more children here in Canada, and raised their full household of four children and his nephew together. Quoc was very proud of his family and a proud member of Winnipeg’s Vietnamese Catholic Church community. He always had a positive attitude and always believed the good in people. As evident in his flight from the Vietnam war, he always strived for survival, battling 8 years of kidney disease and diabetes, Quoc never gave up.
His family would like to take the opportunity to thank the Seven Oaks and St. Boniface Dialysis units for their years of help and support.
A wake will take place at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 7:30pm (mass conducted by Father Hai Duy Nguyen at 8:00pm). A funeral service honouring Quoc’s life will take place at St. Philip Minh Catholic Church on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Quoc can be made to the St. Philip Minh Catholic Church on 615 Lafleche St, Winnipeg, MB.
