Obituary of MARIA D'ASCENCÃO MOURA FIGUEIREDO

Maria D’Ascencão Moura Figueiredo May 25, 1933 – October 24, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Monday October 24, 2016 at Health Science Centre. She was called to the lord and welcomed into his kingdom to be reunited with her parents, husband siblings and son-in-law. Maria was born May 25, 1933 in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. In 1954, she married Jose Figueiredo. Shortly thereafter, they welcomed their children Tony and Margarida. In 1957 Maria and Jose moved to Brazil where they hoped to create a better life. Two years later they welcomed daughter Cida. They would live in Sao Paul for 19 years before Jose passed away. Becoming a widow at 42; Maria decided to move her family to Winnipeg, Canada in 1976. Maria always worked very hard, but always made time to host family dinners. Her true joy was having her kids, grandkids and great grandkids around her table always making sure to have leftovers available to take home with them. Maria will be greatly missed and remembered always by her son Tony (Maria), daughters Margarida (Mario) and Cida (Joe). Grandchildren: Brian, Sandra (Mark), Wayne (Tawna), Crystal (Nelson), Jessica, Desiree, Amanda (Lyndon) and Jessie. Great Grandchildren: Melania, Sienna, Mateo, Amaro, Caio, Markus, Londyn and Katalina. The family wishes to thank the staff at the cardiology department and especially the nurses that cared for her during her final day. Prayers will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Entombment in the Chapel Mausoleum in Assumption Cemetery. Descanse em Paz.
