Obituary of VIOLET JUNE MCKEEVER
VIOLET JUNE MCKEEVER
After a courageous battle against cancer, Vi passed away on July 27th, 2012 with her family by her side.
Vi was born on June 23, 1926 to Sarah and Louis Becker in Quatsino, B.C, She was predeceased by her husband Leonard McKeever in 1997, her parents Sarah & Louis Becker, her brothers Bill and Alvin, her sister Lilian and granddaughter April.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Anita (Ken) Loster, Doreen Davison, Wendy Douglas (John) and special son Lorn Petersen. 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, her brother Stan Becker and sister Helen Nicholls.
Mom lived in many places over her lifetime. She lived in several places in British Columbia and Alberta and resided in Winnipeg for the past 37 years.
Mom had many talents, one was her cake decorating, she made many wedding cakes over the years for family members and friends. Her doll cakes were the highlight of her granddaughters' first birthdays.
Those that new her were fascinated with her owl collection, Mom had collected in excess of 500 owls over the years, displaying them proudly all over her home and showing everyone that came over each and every one.
Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer over 10 years ago but fought the fight and beat it, she lived 10 years cancer free. The last year of her life was a difficult one, when diagnosed with cancer again in May of 2011. She spent that last month of her life at Middlechurch and rallied again, participating in all the events and even playing bingo two days before her passing.
A special thanks to granddaughter Tammy who made Mom's last year so much better by taking care of her in her own home after surgery, taking her to appointments and always there for her, right to the end.
The family would like to thank the staff at Middlechurch for all of their support, they went above and beyond, they are truly remarkable people.
Mom will be sadly missed by all, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
