ALEXANDER GENYK
With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband,father and grandfather, Alexander Genyk on Monday, October 24, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gail; children Brian (Janice), Wayne (Wendy), Carolyn (Harry) and Brad (Gabi); sister Pearl Wladyka (Paul); grandchildren Dale, Ryan, Alex, Joey, Meagan, Renae, Melissa; along with many nieces and nephews.
Alex was predeceased by his son Barry; parents George and Mary; siblings Anna (Stanley), Peter (Mary), Rose (John), Nick, Pat (Ang), William, Lena (Glenn), Metro (Anne), Jean (John).
Born in Teulon and raised in Fisher Branch, MB, Alex moved to Winnipeg where he worked as a Lineman with Winnipeg Hydro for 30 years. While his children were growing up, Alex was involved in his community, volunteering with lsaac Brock Community Club coaching baseball and hockey. He enjoyed many family trips and later in life enjoyed playing senior's baseball and league bowling with Gail.
Alex always loved having family around for any occasion, whether it was to watch a hockey or football game, or during the holidays. We will miss his gentle and kind spirit.
Prayers and viewing will be held November 1, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel,
1442 Main Street. A Funeral Liturgy honouring Alex's life will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 11:00a.m. at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.
