Obituary of ANNA ROZKOWIEC (ZEIDLER)
ANNA ROZKOWIEC (ZEIDLER)
August 5, 1936 – November 24, 2016
Anna passed away peacefully on November 24th after a battle with cancer.
Anna was born on August 5, 1936 in Poland, the daughter of Joseph and Nadia Rozkowiec. Her family was displaced from their home by the Russian army when she was 4 and they spent the next 8 years being moved to different countries and continents at the whim of politics. They immigrated to Canada in 1952 where Anna attended school and later worked for Air Canada as a secretary. After moving to Chilliwack and having her only daughter her experience at Air Canada and her love of travel led her to a second career as a travel agent. Anna’s Ukrainian heritage was important to her and she has been an active member of St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Women’s Association for decades.
She loved to garden and cook and made jars and jars of plum jam every summer with the fruit from her backyard trees. As a member of the Chilliwack Festival Chorus for many years she loved to sing and could often be heard singing choir music around the house. She was a thoughtful and generous person who loved her family.
She is survived by her daughter Karen, son-in-law Simon and granddaughters Chloe and Madeleine, her aunt Elizabeth Specjan and cousin Peter (Darlene), Uncle Alex (Helen) Rozkowiec, cousins Christine (Bob) Davidson, Andrew and Joseph Rozkowiec and by numerous close, loving friends.
The family would like to thank all those friends who helped care for her in her last few months of illness.
Evening prayers were held on Tuesday, November 29th at 6pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Chilliwack, BC. An Orthodox Funeral Liturgy was held on Wednesday, November 30th at 10 am at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Chilliwack, BC and a Memorial lunch followed. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she will join her parents.
Should family and friends so desire, a memorial donation can be made to Chilliwack Hospice Society in Anna’s name.
