VIOLA KLASSEN

Obituary of VIOLA JEAN KLASSEN

Viola Jean Klassen (nee Abrams) September 29, 1940 – December 19, 2016. Sadly we announce the passing of Jean Klassen, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Jake and Susan, brother James and grandchild Ainsley. Jean is survived and greatly missed by her husband of 58 years, Henry; her children Shaun (Sheeva), Dale (Constance), Robin (Michelle); her grandchildren Hayden, Meaghan, Thea, Lara, Evan, Lana; and her siblings Shirley (Martin), Alvin, Sharon (John), Verna (Marcel). Jean was born in Altona and raised in Letellier, Manitoba. She married Henry in July of 1959 and they raised their 3 sons: Shaun, Dale and Robin in Winnipeg. Jean dedicated herself fully to all her life's endeavours, with particular enthusiasm for those involving: family, friends, reading, gardening and travelling. Jean truly enjoyed the many vacations she took with Henry and her family all over Canada, the United States, Europe, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago. Jean enjoyed simple pleasures, like a scenic car ride in the countryside, and revelled in the challenge of a game of Scrabble. Jean loved to search for fine antiques at auctions and garage sales and passed on her appreciation of fine craftsmanship to all of her sons. Jean especially loved her time with her grandchildren and always enjoyed sharing stories, playtime and participating in their events. Jean laughed easily and treasured her time with friends and family. Jean is noted for her remarkable poise and selfless spirit while enduring an advanced cancer for nearly five years. It was Jean’s wish that no funeral service take place. Friends and family will be notified of the Celebration of Jean’s life at a later date. We thank Jean’s sister, Verna for the gracious care and support she provided our mother during her stay at the St. Boniface Hospital. Jean, may you be in peace; you will forever be loved and missed by family and friends.
