as a young journalist I began my TV career in Winnipeg in the early 1970s. Jake was my assignment editor and even today all these years later I realize the fundamental impact he he on my journey. He cared about getting the facts right, about moving quickly, about being fair and putting stories in context. Jake was a decent, honest, fun colleague who was also a great journalist. I think of him often and I always think of him with great admiration.
