FREDERICK CHARLES HENRY HARWOOD
On Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Seven Oaks Hospital Fred passed away at the age of 94 years. He is survived by his sisters, Lila Corman (Windsor,Ontario), Joyce Kulman (Fort Wayne, Indiana) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret and sister Joan.
Born in Galt, Ontario October 27, 1917 and adopted by Harry and Elizabeth Harwood at the age of seven.
Fred grew up in Windsor, Ontario and worked in the Great Lakes Merchant Marine prior to joining the Canadian Army in 1939.
Fred saw wartime service in England, Sicily, Italy, Northwest Europe and Korea,
retiring from the army in 1966. Fred worked for Manitoba Justice as a Corrections Officer until his retirement. Fred spent his later years enjoying fishing, travel and music, especially, ‘Karaoke Night’, at McPhillips Street Station.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
A Memorial Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery.
