Obituary of ANTHONY (TONY) PITTARELLI

ANTHONY (TONY) PITTARELLI February 14, 1930 – March 10, 2017 Peacefully, on March 10, 2017 surrounded by family, Anthony passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 87 years. You are always in our hearts, deeply missed by yours cousins Marianne Coniglio (Tony), Evelyn DiLello, Yolanda DiPaolo, goddaughter Emilia Pittarelli and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Josephine Pittarelli, and his brother Dominic, and sister Mary. Anthony was born in Campochiaro, Italy, and immigrated to Canada as a young boy. After studying law and passing the bar examinations, he began his law career under Harry Walsh and later opened his own law firm. Although he tended to be a very private person, Tony’s deep religious faith was very evident as he was seen regularly attending Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Deer Lodge Centre, and Saint John XXIII Church. He often visited his friends and family, especially those who were sick and shut-in. In his manner of daily life he exemplified Christian integrity, humility, compassion, dedication and self-sacrifice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. (with viewing at 9:30 a.m.) at Saint John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road with Rev. Fr. Robert Polz presiding. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthony’s memory to St. John XXIII Parish, 3390 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, R3K 0Z3, or to the charity of one’s choice.
