Peacefully, on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017, Julia passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 68 years.
Julia was predeceased by her brother Alex Lachuta, sister Mary Kostiuk, brothers-in-law Ronnie Taraschuk and Pete Sowa, sister-in-law Hilda Lachuta and nieces Diane Sowa and Amber Taraschuk. She will be sadly missed by her husband John; two loving sons Brad (Nicole Fry) and Wayne, daughter Marie (Mark Arbilo); grandson Cole, whom she loved and cherished; brothers Bill, Bernard, Lawrence, Louie, Franklin, and Paul; sisters Adeline Sowa, Annie Boitson, Jean Taraschuk, Barbara Peech, Bernice Zelenitsky, Beata Shaw, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and her faithful pets Cooper and Misty.
Julia was born in Gimli, Manitoba on April 23, 1949 and spent her childhood in the town of Winnipeg Beach. Julia married her husband John on September 6th, 1969. They lived in St. Andrew's, Manitoba and later moved to Winnipeg where they raised their three children. Julia and her family loved camping and took annual trips to Western Canada to enjoy the Rockies. She was passionate about working with children and took great pride in the 20 years she worked as an Educational Assistant with the Seven Oaks School Division. Mom was most generous and a very giving, loving person and her family was her greatest joy. She loved hosting family dinners, making her special chili and meatballs for her grandson, and spending countless hours perfecting her flower gardens. Mom lived a full and blessed life and was truly appreciative of everyone involved in her care.
