Obituary of POLLY RUSKIN
POLLY RUSKIN
(nee Pidhayecki)
With great sadness, the family announces the passing of our dear Aunt, Polly Ruskin, at the age of 98 on Monday, July 10, 2017. Polly was born in Rembrandt, MB on June 4, 1919 to Martha and Matthew Pidhayecki.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry Ruskin; brothers, John, Dmytro, William (Bill) and Nick; and her sisters, Tekla, Justyna (Josie), Nellie, Mary and Anne. Polly is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews.
Polly moved to Winnipeg at the age of 15 and did housework for a few years. She met her husband, Harry In Winnipeg and were married in 1946. After that she was employed by Winnipeg Photo and worked there for 43 years until her retirement.
Polly’s family was very important to her and this closeness continued through her entire life. She was a very loving and caring Aunt.
Polly was known for her out-of-this-world meatballs. Everything she made was fantastic. Some of her favourite pastimes were playing cards, going to the casino and earlier on in her life had gone on many long road trips as well as flying to Las Vegas.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Concordia Hospital for taking excellent care of Polly.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at All Saints Cemetery on North Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Polly’s memory to a charity of your choice.
