Obituary of ABEL DE CASTRO
ABEL DE CASTRO
Peacefully on August 14, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital Abel De Castro passed away with his children at his side.
His memory will be cherished by his daughters Marcia De Castro, Georgina De Castro and son Derek De Castro, grandchild Dylan Stocki and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his children Verna Butler.
Dad was born July 25, 1933 and immigrated to Canada from Portugal in May 23, 1957, he received Canadian Citizenship on September 10, 1964. He was a very hard worker who always provided for his family. He worked on Generating Stations and Dams in Northern Manitoba as a welder and carpenter. He spent the majority of his career and retired at CN Transcona Shops as a carman. His passions were wine making, building and constructing furniture, house-hold renovation, gardening and always making his home beautiful. Dad was a proud man. Above all he lived for his family and enjoyed Sunday barbeques and gatherings at the house.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
Funeral Service and Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Dad will be buried at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
In remembrance contributions may be made in Abel’s memory to a charity of one's choice.
The tide recedes, but leaves behind, bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth, still lingers on the land.
The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrain . . .
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.
We Love you and will miss you always Dad!
