Obituary of GIUSEPPE (PIPPO) D'ANTONIO
GIUSEPPE (PIPPO) D'ANTONIO
May 28, 1932 – September 16, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our husband, father, nonno and bisnonno on September 16, 2017 at the age of 85.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Maria with whom he shared 60 years; his children Agatino (Deanna) of BC, Pietra (Leonard) and Joe; his grandchildren, Justin, Paige (Ardee), Nicole (Mike), Matthew, Dylan, Rachel and Messina; his great grandchildren, Tyson, Noah and Lucus. Giuseppe (Pippo) is survived by his sisters Angelina, Anna and Maria (Gianni).
Pippo was born May 28, 1932 in Catania, Sicily. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1956 and in 1957 married his beloved wife Maria. Pippo worked as a cement finisher for Dominion, Bental and Bird Construction; he took pride in everything he did, whether it be tending to his tomatoes in his garden, doing his lawn, shoveling snow and any cement work – it always had to be perfect. He will be remembered for his dance moves (polka), dry sense of humour, and strength.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 22 at 11:00a.m. with viewing at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Giuseppe’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association.
Giuseppe will be forever cherished and he will be sadly missed.
