Obituary of ANTOINETTE ROSALIE BUGERA
Antoinette Rosalie Bugera (Reichert)
October 6, 1943 to October 23, 2017
It is with great regret to announce the passing of Antoinette Bugera on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017. She went to St. Boniface Hospital to deal with her scleroderma illness. After being admitted, she suffered a fall resulting in a broken hip, exacerbating her situation. Unable to operate, she succumbed 4 days later with family members at her side.
Antoinette will be sadly missed by her husband, Leonard Bugera, daughter Krista Deighton (Ernie Futros), brother George Reichert (Theresa), nephew Don of Calgary, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy and Allen Hamm, nephews Russ (Sonja) of Rochester, MN, Jaret (Kelsey) of Kamloops, BC, Graham (Angie) of Vancouver, BC, Neal (Taran) of Australia and great nieces and nephews and many great Aunts and Uncles and cousins and best friend June (Dave) Riddell.
Antoinette was predeceased by her father Michael on January 2, 1986 and her mother Julia on February 7, 2006. Antoinette was born on October 6, 1943 in Winnipeg and spent her childhood years growing up in East St. Paul. Shortly after marrying Leonard in 1966 and having Krista in 1967 the family moved to Transcona and later to North Kildonan where they spent many happy years. Antoinette worked in the Transcona School Division as a Librarian at Arthur Day Junior High until her retirement.
Antoinette enjoyed camping, knitting, gardening, bowling and travelling. Her camping road trips allowed her to see much of Canada and the United States. Many family members were beneficiaries of her knitted slippers. Her passion for gardening was particularly evident in the beautiful flowers which adorned her yard. Her travels took her to such destinations as Hawaii, Italy, Hong Kong, Thailand and the Caribbean.
After retirement, Antoinette enjoyed spending her winters in Mesa, Arizona for the last 15 years. She enjoyed getting away from the cold Winnipeg winters which helped ease her scleroderma.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Association of Manitoba, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6.
