Obituary of STEPHANIE J. GEORGE

STEPHANIE J. GEORGE

January 10, 1926 – December 9, 2017

Blessed with a long life and good health, we are very thankful to have had Stephanie with us for 91 years.

Stephanie was born on the farm in Inwood, MB to Ukrainian immigrant parents, John and Annie Annuck.

Leaving home at age 16, Stephanie travelled to Winnipeg and to later complete an LPN course.  While nursing at the St. Boniface TB Sanatorium, Stephanie met an Airforce Veteran, Arthur George.  They were married November 8, 1947 and got to celebrate their 70th anniversary this year.

They raised two children, Pat (Ted) and Art (Georgina).  They were blessed with grandchildren, Trevor, Jereme, Chelsea (Jacob), Ashlea and step-grandchildren, Melanie (Jared) and Rob; also great-granddaughters, Kria, Tenley, Emmerson; and step-great-grandchildren, Mallory, Ben and Nina.

Besides private duty nursing and later working at Donwood Manor, Stephanie loved cooking, cleaning, doing laundry and gardening – tasks that were perfectly done.

Mom and Dad enjoyed trips to England, Wales, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand.  Travelling by motorhome across Canada and a winter in Texas was also special.

Stephanie liked Good Neighbour exercise classes and a special bond with instructors Susan and Claudia were cherished.

With declining health since spring, we wish to thank Concordia Hospital, Misericordia Respite and Oakview Place Care Home 3N for their kindness and care during Mom’s time there.

Flowers are gratefully declined; be kind to one another as your gift of remembrance.

Cremation has taken place.  A private family reception is planned to honour Stephanie’s life.

We will miss Stephanie but will find comfort knowing that her spirit is in a heavenly place together with her parents, grandson Cory; brother and sister-in-law Nick and Rose; and Wally (husband of niece Lorna); and other relatives
