Obituary of WALTER KIRYLUK
WALTER KIRYLUK
December 10, 1940 - December 16, 2017
With heavy hearts we announce Wally’s death at Seven Oaks Hospital on Saturday, December 16, 2017.
He was born on a farm north of Hyas, SK. Wally lived a life of patience, love and integrity always thinking of others.
He started his adult life in Winnipeg in 1958 as a baker, delivery and onto the trucking industry. After suffering an industrial accident Wally was confined to a wheelchair, however, that did not stop him from enjoying life to the fullest. He loved to travel with his wife Phyllis, taking extended trips across Canada, Poland, Hawaii and USA. He loved to take his extended family to the Shuswaps for enjoyable times on a houseboat.
He also showed his compassion for volunteering to the best of his ability and was honoured when he received the Manitoba Access Award from the Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities Inc. in 2000 and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in July 2004.
Wally is survived by his wife Phyllis (Hnatyshyn) of 52 years of marriage; his brother Orest (Olga); uncle Bert (Jean) Yagelnesky of Yorkton; aunt Grace Peck of Seattle, WA; brothers-in-law, Orest (Delores) Hnatyshyn and Allan (Beverley) Hnatyshyn; five nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; cousins and relatives in Canada, Poland and Ukraine; as well as many friends. Wally was predeceased by his parents, John and Jennie Kiryluk; four aunts and five uncles on his mother’s side and three aunts in Poland and Ukraine and uncle Anton (Mary) of Winnipeg on his father’s side.
