Obituary of JEAN BEMBEN
JEAN BEMBEN
(nee SCHNEIDER)
On Saturday, December 23, 2017, Jean Bemben went into the arms of her Lord.
Jean was predeceased by her parents Leopold and Maria; her husband Anthony Bemben; her brother August; and grandson Dr. Donald Potvin. She is survived by her daughter Trudy Potvin (Lawrence) and her son Richard; seven grandchildren, Kim, Debby, Richard, Ken, Kathy, Anji and Kelly; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
Jean was born in Poland in 1914. She came to Canada with her family when she was fourteen years of age. She excelled in dress design and was a meticulous seamstress. The whole family benefited from the beautiful clothing she made. She also did much knitting and crocheting, making beautiful tablecloths and bedspreads from the finest cotton, projects that took years to complete, family heirlooms. As well, she enjoyed painting in oils, golfing and bowling and was the family’s most successful pickerel fisherman. She spent her life giving the gift of love to her family. And the food! Everyone remembers grandma’s perogies, cabbage rolls and donuts.
She had a deep rooted faith that guided her through life and a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother.
Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel, Providence Care, Kingston, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
