Obituary of ANTON GANTNER
ANTON "TONY" GANTNER
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Anton "Tony" Gantner. He left us on Monday August 27, 2012 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 82, surrounded by those he loved and who loved him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Madeline, and their children Michael (Natalie) and Dianne, as well as many family and friends.
Tony immigrated to Canada in the fall of 1951 and resided in Winnipeg since, where he met and married Madeline in 1958 and they raised their family. He worked as an Upholsterer by trade, and also taught his trade during evening courses at River East School Division for 25 years. Tony enjoyed the company of family and friends, the time spent at Camp Neustadt during summers, playing cards (Skat) with his friends, making moccasins with wonderful beadwork, and was an avid stamp collector. He had an incredible knowledge of and love for both history and geography, and learned to use a computer after his retirement.
We will forever carry in our hearts an image of Tony with his signature laugh and trademark red braces.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, August 30th 2012 at 1:00pm, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Family friend Elsie Rempel will preside.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Our family would like to express our thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre, 3rd floor East, for the care provided.
