Joseph and Peter's other family,
Oh what a sad and shocking loss this is. Peter was one of the good souls as well as a visionary with compassion, humour, and a get-it-done approach. I met Peter when he was with New Careers decades back. He was a guy who just "got it". In his role he was instrumental in supporting and co-launching a community proposal with us via Children's Home for a Deaf Human Service Worker Training Program. He was a complete pleasure to work with and even matter-of-fact about the unique challenges and resources needed (right Rick Z, Sue H, Mary C-M?). Because Peter was convinced of the inherent social justice of involving Deaf people in community services as staff, he was able to pave the way to make this happen... Years later I had some contact again when he was ADM for Family Services and I was seconded personnel. His intelligence and innate humanity were front and centre no matter what. Having Peter leave this planet too early is profoundly saddening - yet what a lot he left behind! His was a life well-lived and well considered.

My condolences to Peter's family and friends. Peter was a colleague for close to 30 years going back to his New Careers days and training workers for northern communities. I worked with him as a fellow Regional Director and through his days as assistant deputy minister. Peter could always be relied upon to provide sage and balanced advice and support. His contributions to the well being of Manitobans is immense and he will be missed.

Peter, you have made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many throughout your career. Your quiet but firm advocacy on behalf of those who didn't always have a voice at the table has prompted immeasurable change. I learned much from working with you. But what I will remember most is our friendship that endured beyond our workplace, and the support and wisdom you extended to me when I needed it most. You will be missed.

Our sincere condolences to family and loved ones. We are still in shock with the news.
We knew Peter for years both professionally and as good neighbours.
Peter's on-going friendliness and humour and long talks will be sorrowfully missed.
