Obituary of DR. EUGENE ADAMOV
DR. EUGENE ADAMOV
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather passed away peacefully on September 4, 2012 at the age of 92.
Eugene was predeceased by his son Alexander in 1975 and later by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife Valentina of 66 yrs, his sons Nick (Sherey) of Vancouver, Vladimir (Carol) of Winnipeg, 4 grandchildren, Christine (Derek), Mike, Katya (James), and Stephanie, and 2 great grand children (Curtis & Mattias).
Eugene came to Canada in 1948 and settled in Winnipeg. He started working at Dyck Box factory assembling wooden pails. In 1950 he successfully passed his medical veterinarian board exam and commenced working at Giesbrecht small animal hospital. In 1953 he secured a position with the Department of Agriculture as a health inspector. He worked a total of 32 years at Burns, Canada Packers, and Swifts. During his career he achieved the highest grade level and was promoted to head health inspector at Swifts. In 1985 at the age of 65, he reluctantly retired.
In his retirement he continued with his passion for travel, particularly to sun destinations. He flew to Hawaii, to the Caribbean and made numerous trips to Santa Barbara. He was a very loving, kind, supportive, and generous family man. He always gave his unconditional love to everyone in his family. Family was always his priority. At home he enjoyed growing his roses and tomatoes. In summer he would spend as much time as possible with his family and friends at his cottage on the Lake of the Woods. He loved picking blueberries, mushrooms and feeding his hummingbirds.
He was also a very spiritual man and was one of the founding members of the Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church. He served the church community for over 50 years with humility and dignity as a sub-deacon and treasurer. Parishioners saw him as a pillar of the church community.
Prayers(Parastas) will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be sung on Friday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Resurrection Church, 732 Alfred Ave. with Fr. Raphael Vereshack officiating Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
