Obituary of ANTON SOWA
ANTON SOWA
On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, Anton Sowa, with his children at his side, passed away.
Tony, as he was known, is survived by his daughter Sheron (Doug), son Barry (Wendy), grandchildren Justin (Keri), Stacey (Sarah), and great-grandchildren Anton, Camden, and Bennett.
Tony was predeceased by his loving wife Rose (December 2017).
He also leaves to mourn, his many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Tony was born in Rembrandt, Manitoba on September 3, 1926. He was 1 of 8 children.
At the age of 13, he left his beloved farm to work with his older brother Walter in the bush camps of the “water line district”. He went straight from the camps to the city of Winnipeg. Here he started a shoe shine shop. Moving onto Fleming Pedlar, Hennesy Construction, Merchant Hotel, Provincial Concrete and finally Building Products. His career spanned 49 years with his retirement taking place at 62 years.
His 29 years of retirement was spent on his hobby farm with his son, grandson, and great grandsons. He also spent time traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, and Florida with his wife Rose.
He remained a country boy at heart.
Tony was known to always have a good tale or story about his life and farm adventures.
Our father lived a full life.
We would like to thank the sisters and residents of St. Benedict’s Assisted living and the dedicated staff of the 5th floor at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion.
A celebration for Tony and his late wife Rose will take place at a later date. A final announcement of the date and time will follow.
We love you Dad.
Rest in Peace
