The things that I will miss are immeasurable. Mom and I shared a very special relationship, one which I will always remember and cherish. She was the most generous person in my world and I was lucky to have her for as long as I did.
Some of my most cherished memories are from long ago....."Mom and Me" memories.....playing Kinsmen Jackpot TV bingo on Saturday nights.....playing cards together (Crazy 8's)......walking down to Thunderbird Restaurant on the corner of McPhillips & Jefferson for a burger & fries......taking the bus on Thursdays to meet Mom at Sears (her one evening shift every week) to have dinner in the Sears or Eatons cafeteria, always followed by a piece of red velvet cake......our love for dogs (thank you Mom for always ensuring that our home was never without furry family members). Many decades later the things that I will miss most are still the simple things.....our daily telephone calls just to see what the other was doing or watching on TV......sharing our birthdays (which are 2 days apart).....the "special" telephone call I got every Spring when Mom would see the first robin in her backyard apple tree.....then in recent years our Sunday dinners at Mom's (cooked by Dave). Earlier on these dinners would be followed by us sitting in the backyard with Mom and she would enjoy watching my dogs "Bella" and "Kenzie" chasing their ball or practicing agility. Then eventually, and more recently, dinner was followed by me and the dogs hopping up onto Mom's bed and we would watch TV together.
You are on your way, Mom, to a much better place. I know you have many waiting for you there and they will be accompanied by many wagging tails. Thank you for being my Mom. Love you.......bye for now.
