MAGDALEN BUGERA
(Kowalchuk)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Magdalen Bugera on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the age of 96.
Magdalen will be sadly missed by her son Leonard, and daughter Judy Hamm (Allen), grandchildren Krista Deighton (Ernie Futros), Graham Cunningham (Angie), Russell Hamm (Sonja), Neal Cunningham (Taran) and Jaret Hamm (Kelsey) and great grandchildren Quazell and Kai Cunningham and Audrey and Andrew Hamm. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters Adolph, Gertrude, Isabelle, Edmund, Julia, Bernard, Anton, Josephine, Arthur and Chester along with their spouses and children. Magdalen was predeceased by her parents Julian and Caroline Kowalchuk, her husband John, daughter Lucille, daughter-in-law Antoinette and brothers Emil, August and Lawrence.
Magdalen was born on June 25, 1921 on a farm in Tiny, Saskatchewan near Canora. As the oldest of fourteen children, she helped raise many of her brothers and sisters while also helping on the family farm. In 1940 she married her husband John. They lived in both Canora and Tadmore, Saskatchewan and had their 3 children there. In 1948, they moved their family to Winnipeg. She welcomed many family members to come and stay with her in Winnipeg.
Magdalen worked in the lab at Silverwood’s dairy until its closure. She later worked as a childcare giver for a member of the extended family.
Magdalen enjoyed visiting with her family throughout Canada and in later years travelling with John to Hawaii and other areas of the United States. She especially enjoyed spending time with family at their cottage in Balsam Bay.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with family and at the seniors’ clubs which she belonged to over the years.
