Obituary of ARCELI ARABIA DIAZ
ARCELI ARABIA DIAZ
February 9, 1946 – May 8, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, Arceli Arabia Diaz, surrounded by her family, on May 8, 2018, at the age of 72 years old.
Arceli is dearly missed by her husband of 45 years, Miguel, her daughter Armi Grace (Hyundong), and her sons Ramir Michael (Jane), and Migmar Neal, and her grandsons Kingston and Kingsley. She will be deeply missed by her sisters Naty (Pat), and Nimfa, sisters-in-law including Regina (Sergio), brothers-in-law, and many nephews and nieces in Winnipeg, Philippines, and Hawaii.
Arceli was predeceased by her parents Ricardo Arabia and Leonora Sacundo Arabia, and her brother Wilson Arabia.
Arceli was born in Victoria-Tarlac in the Philippines. She attended high school at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy in Guimba, Nueva Ecija and graduated in 1963. Later, Arceli embarked on a new journey, and with the 4th group of Filipina women, she left the Philippines and travelled to Gendringen, Holland in 1969. There she worked as a seamstress for 3 years at Berghaus Company. And many dear friendships were nurtured. In 1972 Arceli moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and eventually married her husband Miguel and cared for their family. She was a selfless volunteer with the Parents’ Group Association and choir, and faithful member at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She worked at Tuxedo Villa Extendicare as a dietary aid and served the residents there for 30 years before she retired. She loved spending time with her family and friends, travelling, and line dancing. Arceli’s children and grandsons were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her loving, faithful, and generous spirit will live on through them.
The wake (Lamay) will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 6 PM until midnight at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday May 18, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Avenue, 10:00 AM with Very Reverend Fr. Geoffrey Angeles officiating. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for the care, compassion, and comfort given to Arceli. We love and miss you very much Mom. We hold you close in our hearts until the days when we are together again in joy. The Lord be with you Arceli. And may you rest in peace. Amen.
