DENNIS JOHNSTON
It is with great sadness, surrounded by family, we have to say goodbye to our husband, brother, father, step-father, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.Dennis Johnston long time resident of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife Doreen, son Dennis Jr.; step-sons, Russell (Debbie), Greg (Julie), Grant; daughters, Teresa (Gary), Debbie Jean and family; grandchildren, Chris, Rochelle, Mary, Grant Jr., Sherise, Brent, and great-grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his siblings, Maggie McKay, Doreen Robson, Edith Langlois, Yvonne Johnston Larry Johnston (Flurette), Leon Johnston, and Clay Johnston;
in-laws, Verna and Ivan Spence, Ann and Johnny Mowat, Pearl and Dennis Dumas and their families. Dennis is predeceased by his parents, Ernest Folster and Ellen Margaret Johnston; brothers, John, Edward, William,and Robert; sisters, Marie, Mariah, and Shirley; grandparents, Jim and Elisa Folster and Annabella and Henry Prince; in-laws, Florence and Jack Asham, Ida and John Asham; and numerous other relatives.
Dennis enjoyed hockey, baseball, curling, bowling, golf, and dancing. Dennis also enjoyed playing guitar, violin, fiddle, keyboard, banjo and mandolin.
The family would like to thank Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Band office, BON Health Center, BON firefighters (First responders), Selkirk Regional Health Center and St. Boniface Hospital. Family would also like to thank family and friends who visited and gave comforting words in this trying time.
A Viewing and Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Thursday, June 7 at 6:00 p.m.. Wake Service will be held on Friday, June 8 at 4:00 p.m. and Service will be held on Saturday, June 9, at 1:00 p.m. – both Wake and Service to be held at Private Tommy Chief Memorial Hall in Scanterbury, Manitoba.
