NELLIE STRUMBICKY
(Nee Goletz)
August 2, 1927 – July 3, 2018
Peacefully Nellie was received in the hands of our Lord, with family by her side.
Mom (Baba) will be sadly missed by her sister Jean Laskowski; children Margie (Glen) Yeryk, Judy (Wayne) Baniuk, Barry Strumbicky, Angie Strumbicky (Darin); her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband John Strumbicky and daughter Shirley Podolsky.
At 18 Nellie met the love of her life at a restaurant in Clear Lake while he was enlisting in the army. They married in November 1945. Later they started a farm and family around Vita, Manitoba Unfortunately the homestead burnt down and they decided to build a home in Vita. In 1974 they moved to Tyndall, Manitoba continuing to raise their family. In 2000 they moved to Winnipeg to enjoy their retiremt.
Nellie loved being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a homemaker. She took great pleasure in cooking, gardening and in nature. She was devoted to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and attended Church when able.
Special thanks to the caring staff from home care and staff at Concordia Hospital and their EMTs.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 6594 Henderson Hwy. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Gonor, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 6957 Henderson Hwy., Lockport, MB R1B 1A4.
