Obituary of MURRAY ALLAN HORNUNG
MURRAY ALLAN HORNUNG
January 18, 1961 – July 21, 2018
It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, dad, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend at Grace Hospital on July 21st at the age of 57. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Pamela Fooks, of over 20 years, his children Tyler (Amber) and their children Annabelle and Calvin; Ryan and his children Rayna, Coral and Edwin; Richard (Ashley). He is also lovingly remembered by his parents, Allan and Irene; brothers Michael (Pam) and Paul; sisters Theresa and Susan (Trevor); father and mother-in-law Roger and Grace; sister-in-law Angela (James); brother-in-law Robert (Shanna); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Murray grew up on the family farm in Vivian, MB where he created many happy memories with family and friends. Murray moved from Vivian and established himself in Winnipeg. His love of learning enabled him to pursue many interests including hunting, camping, fine dining, live music, theatre, sports (Go Packers!) and travel both nationally and internationally.
Murray's natural talent for building developed his career in fiberglass manufacturing. His plans were to help grow the business at Carlson’s and eventually retire from the career he loved. In his off hours this creativity extended to his home and to “urban renewal” of houses, that were in need of his TLC.
Murray’s greatest love was his family and friends – they were his top priority. He provided them all with thoughtful life advice and his words of wisdom. He and Pam entertained often and hosted many smaller gatherings to a much larger annual family BBQ, which he looked forward to every year. Murray also became a marriage commissioner and one of his greatest joys was when he officiated the marriages of two of his sons.
In all that Murray did he brought his quick wit, sense of humor and his “failure is not an option” attitude. He will be remembered as a loving man with a good heart and always had a smile on his face. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stoke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
