KATHERINE KURUS
1923-2012
With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Katherine Kurus peacefully with her family by her side on September 12, 2012. Katherine was predeceased by her loving husband Peter in 2008.
Katherine was born in Ukraine and as a young woman spent several years in Germany and Belgium before immigrating to Canada and settling in Winnipeg. Katherine’s passions included the family farm, gardening, her church and her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Olga Strashok (Rick Suszynski), her son Peter Kurus Jr. (Bev Mott), grandsons Jamie Strashok and Kristopher Kurus, and nephews Michael and John Senkowsky.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue on Wednesday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in Katherine’s memory can be made to St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Katherine will be missed by all who loved her and will live in our hearts forever. "Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep."
