Obituary of JOSEPHINE GATIEN
JOSEPHINE THERESE GATIEN
(Nee VICKERS)
December 20, 1928 – August 10, 2018
It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our mom Josie. Surrounded by her family, she passed peacefully.
She was predeceased by her husband Hector, her parents as well as several sisters and one brother.
Josie is survived by her children Paul (Jennifer), Chris (Jeannie), Jos (Brenda), Margaret (Gary) and Patrice (Mario) as well as 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Born in Winnipeg, she resided here most of her life. Mom met her greatest love and married Dad on July 2, 1949. She worked more than 20 years at the Royal Bank of Canada as a data processing supervisor. After retirement she and Dad did many things together. They shared a love for travelling, the horse races, the casino and most of all, their family. Their children’s happiness always came first.
They shared 63 years together before Dad passed in 2012. Because they did everything together it is fitting that she passed away the same day as he did 6 years ago. Josie’s greatest wish was that everyone in her life be blessed with good health, happiness and fortune. She loved us all deeply.
The family greatly appreciated the compassion and support from the staff, nurses and doctors in the emergency and SICU units at HSC.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 9:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
Flowers gratefully declined, donations in Josie’s memory may be made to Siloam Mission.
