Obituary of ANNETTE VERONICA MARY SPENCE
ANNETTE VERONICA MARY SPENCE
November 13, 1951 – January 25, 2018
Peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side, Annette left us at 6:10 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
Annette is survived by her four children, Brian (Miranda), Marilyn (Ed), Dennis, Shelley; her grandchildren Brian Jr., Jessica, Brandon, and Damon, Victoria and Veronica, Tonysha, Jorden, Cierra, and Sirenna, Madoc; and a great-grandson due in March. Annette is survived by three sisters and three brothers; Claire, Garry, ida, Myles, Michael, and Karen. She was predeceased by her grandson Isaiah, her parents, and six of her brothers, two of them as adults, Leonard Chartrand and Steve Spence.
Annette was born in Ste Rose du Lac on November 13, 1951 to parents J. Arsene Spence and Adeline (Chartrand) Spence. She lived in Eddystone until she moved to Winnipeg in August 1970, where she lived for the remainder of her years.
Annette helped her three sisters care for their children until they were old enough to attend daycare and school. She was a kind, loving, and generous person. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a beloved second mom to her nieces and nephews. Her passing is a terrible loss for all of them.
Annette liked to garden and to sew. She sewed quilts and pillow sham sets which we will enjoy today. She made stuffed dolls and toys for the children. She liked to dance. She was one of the square dance group members for the Metis Pavilion Folklorama when it first began in 1985. She liked to sing and to play guitar, performing with her family and friends. She appeared on the Western Hour, a local televised talent show, several times. She loved different genres of music but country music was her favorite. Annette had a great sense of humour and she loved to make everyone laugh. She was an accomplished cartoonist. She created and drew her own comics as a hobby. After she retired she contacted several media to publish her work, but she did not have the time to follow through. Annette returned to school, completing high school. She then studied nursing, and she eventually became a Health Care Aide. Later in life she returned to school again to try another occupation. She received her Administrative Assistant diploma, but upon graduation, she decided to go back to working as a Health Care Aide, because she loved to help people.
