Obituary of JOHANN (JOHN) SCHMULAND
JOHANN (JOHN) SCHMULAND
March 16, 1942 – September 19, 2012
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Karen; children, John Jr., Heather (Doug Sinclair), Deenna (Adrian Brown); precious grandchildren, Sydney Sinclair and Evan Brown; six sisters; 3 brothers; numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents, John and Hulda, as well as his infant brother and his sister.
Dad was born in Brokenhead, Manitoba and he worked very hard on the family farm. He moved to Winnipeg and was employed at Sinclair & Valentine, El-Kare Builders, Great West Life and the St. James School Board until his retirement. He was a member of West Kildonan Legion.
Our Dad was a hardworking man and his passion was being a "handyman". He loved to have his tool belt on and with a hammer in his hand he was always ready to lend a hand to his family and friends. He definitely was our "go to guy", no task was too big or small and he loved helping everyone.
In his spare time he enjoyed weekly curling, a good round of golf and attending many Grey Cups across Canada with his family. But most of all he enjoyed his time with his family at their cottage at Patricia Beach.
A Celebration of John’s life will take place on Sunday, September 23, 7:00p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
