Obituary of JEAN SAWCHUK

Jean Sawchuk (Nee Demski) May 4, 1926 to September 25, 2012 With her family beside her the "strongest" lady on earth, my mother, received her angel wings and left us to be with my father Michael and brother Larry. Mom came to Canada from Poland with her family at the young age of 4 years old. Till the end mom remained the quintessential lady. Mom and dad married November 6, 1948. I remember mom working at the Oxford Grill restaurant in Transcona for many years. Later on she received her real estate license and worked for Winnipeg and Sunset Realty. But firstly, she was a mother. Mom loved to cook and bake. You were never sent home without bags of food! Hands down she made the best perogies and perishky. I am sure Dave at the garage misses them also. She even won first prize for her cinnamon buns and the recipe was published in the newspaper. Need your house cleaned (with detol), ironing done, sewing, there was mom bucket in hand. This was just some of her ways of saying how much she loved us all. Mom loved a good party and she put on many. Mom was always there for dad as he suffered from cancer. She was widowed at the early age of 52. Sadly mom lost her only son Larry three years ago. No mother should lose her child. Honestly, I don’t think she had much will to live without him. Mom’s health continued to decline after her stroke along with other complications from diabetes. Quite frankly she suffered more than anyone should ever go through. Rest in Peace mom; remember our saying, no more pain. Oh yeah, thank God I put your make up on before you left us. I now know that is what you were waiting for. Left to cherish her memories are, her daughter Debbie and son-in-law Brian Fedak, sister Victoria Stillman, brother Peter Demski, many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and everyone else she touched in some way. Also, in heaven with mom are, her mom Paulina, dad Anthony Demski, brothers Steve, Alex, John and Walter Demski. Should be an interesting party mom. I am forever grateful to my husband Brian and my friend Annette Pelland who were always there for me and my mom. You had my back girlfriend. Thanks to all that visited mom. She talked about it for days. Thank you to "all" the first floor staff at Poseidon Care Home. You showed me how in some way special she touched your life also. Larry, keep an eye on mom and dad with my 70 Camero. I remember how dad loved racing it down Regent on Saturday coming home from work and also how fast mom liked to drive. The two of them could be trouble. Mom you looked more beautiful than ever. You looked so at peace and dressed to the nines. If I could have a tenth of the strength you had for all you endured I should be so lucky. Remember NO MORE PAIN. Cremation has taken place and there will be more happy stories to be told at a later date at a party in mom’s honor.
