CARLOS INÁCIO COSTA
January 28th, 1944 - January 7th, 2019
Carlos Inácio Costa passed away unexpectedly at home on January 7th, 2019. He was born on January 28th, 1944 in São Miguel, Açores, Portugal. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1962 and was joined by his wife shortly after.
Carlos worked at Versatile for many years and later worked part-time at the Winnipeg Arena. He then retired but decided to go back to work at the MTS Center for 15 years where he happily worked until his passing.
Carlos is predeceased by his parents Manuel and Irene Costa, his brother Manuel Costa and sisters Edwarda Raposo and Leonilde Meneses. He leaves to mourn the love of his life for the last 55 years, Maria Costa. He also leaves to mourn his three children, Irene (Javier) Costa-Polanco, John Costa, and Michael (Melanie) Costa. Besides his dear children, he leaves to mourn his 6 grandchildren; Nathan, Malaika, Maesha, Kaitlynn, Jaden and Brooklynn Costa. He also leaves behind his sister Maria dos Anjos Botelho who resides in Portugal, his brother-in-law João (Maria Evelina) Botelho and his godchildren, Rui (Lucy) Botelho, Nelson Botelho, and Marlene (Ross) Hallett. Carlos will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as his family at the MTS Center.
Prayers will be said on Friday, January 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 12 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church with Father Andre Lico officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: John Costa, Michael Costa, Nathan Costa, Nelson Botelho, Justin Santos, and Jerry Clemente.
