Obituary of KRYSTYNA KOSTEK
Krystyna Kostek
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother and babcia, Krystyna Kostek on Monday, March 11, 2019 surrounded by family.
Left to cherish their memories are son Roman (Barbara), daughter Jolanta (Marvin), four grandchildren (Zachary, Nicholas, Jonathan, and Alyssa), numerous nieces and nephews and friends, Helen Belbos in particular. Krystyna was predeceased by her husband Jozef, sister Adela and parents Jozef and Katarzyna Jaremko.
Krystyna was born in Poland April 3, 1938. She came to Winnipeg in 1969 for a year, leaving her husband and small children in Poland, and worked as a seamstress to save money to bring them to Canada. She was a loving mother and cherished her Grandchildren, babysitting them when they were small. She worked as a seamstress and was a whiz with her sewing machine. Krystyna was a woman of faith and attended Holy Ghost Parish.
Babcia was known for her pierogi, bigos, barszcz, and gołąbki. When the grandkids came over she would fatten them up with pierogi and butter and they would never go home hungry. Easter and Christmas family get togethers will be fondly remembered.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cancer Care Manitoba at HSC and Victoria Hospital, the community Palliative Care program(especially nurse Michelle), and staff at St. Boniface Palliative care(8A) for their care and support.
Prayers will be said Friday, March 15, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Ghost Church Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4287 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to either Cancer Care MB or Palliative Care at the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
