Obituary of DANIEL OLIVEIRA
DANIEL OLIVEIRA
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Oliveira on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. Daniel passed away at the age of 67 years after his battle with pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria Orminda; children Paul and Sandy; grandchildren Cristiano and Isa(Bella). He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Carlos, Joao; sisters Maria Lurdes and Cremilde; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Daniel was born in 1951 in Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada to meet up with Maria once his time in the army was served. They were married in Winnipeg in 1975 until his passing.
Daniel worked with his hands putting stucco on houses then worked in construction for the City of Winnipeg until he retired a few years ago.
Daniel’s love of animals started at a young age in Portugal working on a farm. He continued to follow his passion by spending much of his free time helping out friends tend to their farms here in Stonewall, MB. Like many Portuguese, he would make his own wine and sausages, most of which would be given out to family and friends. This was Daniel, always generous and there to lend a helping hand whether it be changing a tire or selling social tickets. He knew everyone in the Portuguese community or at least it seemed like he did. He loved spending time with his friends and family as well as watching his favourite soccer team Porto FL He will be truly missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Unit in St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and tender care of Daniel.
Prayers will be said on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, at 10:00 a.m. also at the Parish. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery on Portage Avenue.
We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations to your local Church for Prayers in Daniel’s memory be made.
