Obituary of AL BOSIAK
AL BOSIAK
September 23, 1937 - March 25, 2019
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Al Bosiak, peacefully at home after a lengthy fight with cancer. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Walda, of 60 years, his son Michael and daughter Caroline (Jeff) Thurlbeck; grandchildren Nicole, Isabella, and Angelica Bosiak; Sara (Colin) Tham, Daniel, and Adam Thurlbeck. Al also leaves to mourn his sisters Gloria Beaton and Jenny Nawolsky; sisters-in-law Donnie Broda-Bowness, Jackie (Steve) Broda-Milian and Darlene Mozel, as well as nieces and nephews Bill, James, Ken, Bob, Evan, Grace, Ksenia, Kiernan, Leanne (Mark), and Kristin (Johann).
Al was predeceased by parents, Michael and Katherine Bosiak, brother Bill Mozel, and brother-in-law Mike Nawolsky.
Al was born and raised in Winnipeg. He began his career at MTS in 1955, where he made many life-long friends who he cherished very much, and retired in 1992 after 37 years.
Gardening and woodworking were his passions. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. Al spent many hours being the best handyman during his retirement, also sitting on the front porch, visiting with neighbours and friends who passed by. Al and Walda enjoyed holidays in Hawaii and Mexico with friends, as well as road trips to Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa for special family occasions and holidays.
Special thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and staff at Grace Hospital Cancer Care and Dr. David Breckman for their tireless care and compassion. Thank you also to the Palliative Home Care nursing team and the paramedics who cared for him at the end of his journey.
As per Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Blvd., on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
