Obituary of TEENIE BUCHKO
Teenie Buchko
(Nee Melnychuk)
December 1, 1931 – April 7, 2019
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Teenie Buchko, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2019, age 87, at Holy Family Nursing Home.
Teenie was born in Silver, Manitoba, to parents Pearl (Klym) and Michael Melnychuk. Being the eighth of fourteen children, life on the farm was very busy, but very happy. We loved hearing stories of her childhood years. Mom graduated from St. John’s High School, and then went on to Normal School to attain her Teaching Certificate. She taught for five years in the Interlake District at Tarno School. Mom then stayed home to raise us, and once we were in high school, in 1976 she went on to graduate with honours in Business Administration from Red River College. Upon graduation she was employed at Air Canada (en Route division) until her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed volunteer work with children’s groups, loved gardening and cooking and spending time with her family. Her door was always open.
Left to cherish Teenie’s memory are son Michael, grandchildren Maya and Colin; and son Leonard (Lynda), granddaughters Jennifer (Jared), Jillana (Nick), and Julee, and great grandsons Brody and Bennett. As well as two brothers, four sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Pearl and Michael, and four brothers, and 3 sisters.
Special thank you to Dr. A. Babick and the staff at Holy Family Home, on St. John’s Ward, for the wonderful care you gave our mom during the past eight years.
Funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, Main at Inkster. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Teenie’s name to Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave, Winnipeg MB, or a charity of your choice.
