JAN MIKAWOZ
Peacefully on Friday April 5, 2019 Jan passed away in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 92.
He leaves his wife Helena, after 65 years of marriage. Also surviving are his children Stan-Alek (Maria), Margaret (Greg), Mike (Maryna); his grandchildren Daniel (Janelle), Marek (Logan), Kristina, Johnnie, Michael, Nicholas; great grandchildren Hannah and Hallie and by his sister-in-law Aniela, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family in Canada, Poland and abroad.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Stanislaw; his three brothers Stach, Stefan (Genia), Jozek (Romualda) and his two sisters Andzia and Adella.
In 1976 he immigrated to Canada to join his brothers. Family was his priority and he enjoyed mushroom picking, watching wrestling and playing cards with friends. He will be fondly remembered by his infectious humour and smile. He was always prepared with a joke or a tease for his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Holy Ghost Church and participated in prayers and events.
Prayers will be held on Friday April 12, 2019 at 5:00PM Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Deacon Stefan Tyrawski officiating. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00AM at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave., with Oblate Fathers and Deacon Stefan Tyrawski concelebrating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery. Active pallbearers are: Stan Mikawos, Thomas Wallace, David Atwell, Kyle Mikawoz-Atwell, Tyler DeSousa and Thomas Pilipaitees.
The family would like to express deep appreciation and thank you to the medical staff involved in his care at Seven Oaks Hospital, Oblate Fathers and Deacon Stefan Tyrawski.
