Obituary of ALVIN (AL) FRANK PICH
ALVIN (AL) FRANK PICH
August 21, 1940 to April 15, 2019
Our family sadly announces the passing of Al Pich, aged 78.
Al is survived by his daughter Linda (John) Laugesen, daughter Janice Pich, and daughter Sarah (Brent) Bigold. He was a proud and loving Gege to Eric and Josh Laugesen and Jacob, Charlotte and Hannah Bigold. He will be missed by his siblings Sylvia, Hazel (Nick), Michael (Maxine), Judy (George), Jack, and Orest (Val) along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Al was predeceased by his parents, Mike (1973) and Jennie (1998) Pich, and his sister Eleanor (2009).
Al had a passion for life and travel and never let his age prevent him from trying something new or slow him down – he learned to snowboard at 70 and completed the 780 km El Camino trail walk at 73. He loved to laugh and was always telling corny jokes which affectionately became known as “Gege jokes”. He volunteered in the community, contributing his electrical skills to Habitat for Humanity and Naomi House and most recently became involved in the Bear Clan Patrol.
Al was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends and his presence will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the first responders and doctors and nurses at Grace Hospital for their care of our Dad.
A Celebration of Al’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Habitat for Humanity, Naomi House Winnipeg, or the charity of your choice.
