I was shocked and very saddened to hear of Mel’s passing. I worked at the same company as Mel….one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet that everyone looked up to. My fondest memories of Mel were when we played together in the Rolling Mill baseball league. We were called the “CheckMates”. With such a positive and upbeat attitude, he was a great player to have on the team and I really got to know him for his super personality. Really going to miss him. My deepest condolences to the family.

I was sad to learn of Melvin's passing. I knew him during my high school days in McCreary. We shared many classes from grades 9-12. I always very much enjoyed his fun loving spirit and nice personality. One of my fondest memories out of many, involves Mel being my table tennis partner in grade eleven. He was a great player! We each earned a medal, and mine has graced my Christmas tree every year since. It's a bitter sweet reminder of an era gone by, and a brief passage of time happily spent with a wonderful person who will not be forgotten. I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to Melvin's family.
Sincerely,
Gaylene Lancaster ( nee Raymack )
