Obituary of THOMAS (TOM) MICHAEL ELENDIUK
Thomas (Tom) Michael William Elendiuk
July 19, 1945 – July 14, 2019
With aching hearts, we announce Tom’s passing Sunday, July 14, just days before his 74th birthday. Tom passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. Tom was a much loved husband and father, devoted ‘ Papa’, loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and loyal friend. Holding Tom’s memory close in their hearts are his wife of 50+ years , Arlene; his treasured daughters, Lisa and Lara, much-adored grand-daughters, Ava and Zoe, and sons–in-law, Peter and Ryan.
Deeply saddened by Tom’s passing are his five sisters and one brother: Juanita (Telly), Dolores (Merv), Linda (Bruce), Donna, Bonnie (Doug) and Robert (Helena); sister-in law Vivian (Robert), brother-in-law Clyde (Pearl) and many wonderful nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Tom will be fondly remembered by Western Messenger staff / drivers both past and present , countless long-time friends, business associates and neighbours . We know that Tom will be smiling when his B & L Club buddies ‘raise a glass’ to toast their friend the next time they get together. Tom was a good man: kind, loving, smart, thoughtful, funny and generous to everyone.
In keeping with Tom’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place.
Our family will be forever grateful for the wonderful care Tom received from everyone at CancerCare and Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital. A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and support staff who cared for Tom. You know who you are, and we thank you for your kindness and compassion. Flowers are gratefully declined.
Should friends wish to do so, a donation to: CancerCare Manitoba 675 McDermot Ave R3E 0V9 or Canadian Cancer Society - Manitoba Division (Wheels of Hope Transportation Service) 193 Sherbrook Street, R3C 2B7 would be very meaningful and much appreciated. We encourage family and friends to share thoughts, memories, stories, photos, etc., by visiting Tom’s memorial page at: www.cropo.ca
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
