It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Baba and great baba Kathleen Mihaychuk on Thursday August 15, 2019 at Seven Oaks Hospital with her daughter Pat and son Terry by her side at the age of 87.
Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Bill(2000), grand daughter Tanis Podolchuk, mother Nellie, father George, Brothers Bill, John, George and Peter, sisters Ollie and Mary.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Pat(Jack) Podolchuk, son's Terry(Brenda), Anthony and brother Mike, as well as six grand children Ashley(Brent) Podolchuk, Kevin Podolchuk(Paige), Ryan(Jackie) Mihaychuk, Kara Mihaychuk, Amanda(Jason) Stevenson, Cory(Joanne) Mihaychuk. Kathleen also had twelve great grand children Landon, Jaylyn, Maxwell, Aiden, Raya, Dylan, Sheyanne, Aiden, Lily, Kylie, Ashton and Annabella.
Kathleen was born July 16, 1932 in Arnaud Manitoba. She married dad(Bill) on October 14, 1950 and later raised three children in West St, Paul. She worked part time in the catering business for Mary's catering. She was an excellent cook and baker and when she wasn't in the kitchen she was out tending to her garden. She always loved hosting a family holiday dinner. When she had free time she would knit countless slippers, blankets and make beautiful paper tole art. She would crochet beautiful doilies and cross stitch pictures, which she would display around her home. She embraced every place she lived, making countless friends easily and taking part in gatherings with neighbours playing cards, crib and bingo. Mom loved watching sports on t.v. especially curling, hockey and football. She also enjoyed playing kinsman bingo, winning a total of 3 times. It brought her great joy and huge smiles months before her passing playing kinsman bingo in the hospital on Saturdays with her great grand children. Mom also found a new joy in painting pictures while in the hospital. She will be deeply missed forever by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their gratitude and acknowledge the exceptional care mom received by Dr. Panaskevich and nurses on the 4th floor for the past eleven months. Pallbearers will be her grandson's Ryan, Cory, Kevin and Brent, nephews Darrell and Doug.
A private memorial service was held on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens with Rev. Fr. Dmytro Dnistrian, C.Ss.R. Officiating. Rest in peace, dear Mom and Baba, we will miss you and love you always. Say "Hi" to dad for us! Till we meet again.
