Obituary of HARRY MICHASIW
Harry Michasiw
1931 - 2019
Peacefully with family by his side, Harry passed away at Holy Family Home on Saturday September 21, 2019, at the age of 87, one month short of his birthday.
He leaves to morn his wife Jean that shared his life for 63 years, sons Michael Dale (Debra), Kenneth Peter (Joanne), three grandchildren, Conner, Devin, Tera and two great grandchildren, Riley and Ayva.
Predeceased are his parents Michael and Nellie Michasiw, sisters Mary Twerdochlib, Stella Budz, Rose Fiel and brother Daniel. Surviving are sister Anne Halowski (Bill), brother Ernie (Mary) and many nieces and nephews.
Harry was born on a farm in the district of Rossburn, MB on October 21 1931. In later years, he came to Winnipeg and was employed at Scott National for 37 years until his retirement.
He met his wife Jean in 1955 and a year later on May 20th, they married.
Harry was a hard working man always trying his best to provide for his family and doing small favors for others when asked. Holiday time was spent visiting family and traveling in Canada from coast to coast and abroad which was very enjoyable.
Harry was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4138 where he spent a lot of his time volunteering for many years. He was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic church and was active in the men's club until his stroke and disability prevented him from driving.
Thank you to the fire fighters, paramedics and the Grace and St. Boniface hospital staff for their care. Dr. T. Babick and Dr. A. Babick, along with the sisters at Holy Family Home for their compassion, guidance and prayers. Thank you to the clergy, Rev. Volodymyr Bashutskyy, family and friends that visited Harry in the hospital and at the Holy Family.
Funeral service will take place at the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic church, 965 Boyd Ave on Thursday, September 26 at 10:00am.
Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 9:30, before the funeral.
Rest in peace, dear husband, dad, grandfather (gido), and great grandfather.
