Obituary of RICHARD P. TATES
RICHARD TATES
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather Richard Tates (Dick), on Monday November 18, 2019 at the age of 84. Dick was predeceased by his parents Cornelius & Maria Tates, his two sons John and Joe, grandson Scott, granddaughter Christine and brothers John and Peter. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Walter, sons Rick (Rose) and Rod (Debbie) and his daughter Amaris (Luciano), grand children Santanna, Channing, Kayla, Ryan, Jamie, Destiny, Tyler, Isabella and Selena, and numerous great grand children.
Dad was born in New Vennep, Holland on May 17, 1935. Dad had a passion for racing and it all started at Brookland Speedway. He ran the number 98 for numerous years, even when he gave up racing years later, he still came out to help his sons when they started racing, Joe ran #88, Rod #98 and Rick #99. He would never pass up the chance to go and watch his sons and grandchildren race. He also loved his 1965 Meteor Montcalm you always knew when he was arriving or leaving as he would always honk his iconic horn. He loved going for coffee every morning at Tim Hortons or Robins.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing to be held 30 minutes prior at 9:30 am. both at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick, Rodney, Luciano, Channing, Ryan and Tyler.
